Built native for macOS, not a web wrapper. Syncs instantly to your iPhone app.

Encrypted in transit and at rest. TLS between your device and the server. AES-256 on the server side. On-device storage uses iOS data protection — your tasks are encrypted whenever your device is locked.
Per-user isolation. Your data is only readable by your account. No shared buckets, no cross-user access.

Origin

Onka was built from personal necessity.
Calendars never felt like the right metaphor for daily life — too structured for thoughts that arrive randomly. Traditional task apps orbit around projects and progress, which also felt wrong. The real rhythm of a day is somewhere in the middle, daily tasks interspersed with work and personal life, all mixed together.
For years, my system was a series of text files — chronological, synced across devices, viewable anywhere. It worked until it didn't: clunky navigation, slow search, merge conflicts on the subway.
So I built Onka. An app fast enough for stream-of-consciousness capture, synced without monitoring it, with a MacOS companion app that you can keep tabs on all day long. It's helped me claw back a little sanity and structure without it feeling like work.
The name "Onka" is a nod towards Japanese artist On Kawara (河原温), who spent his life quietly cataloging the everyday. His work revealed that hidden patterns and beauty emerge when you simply pay attention to your days. Onka carries the same idea.
